The person behind the architecture

At the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK) I took over the payments view on My Page, a Java monolith that loaded slowly and produced errors because the domain rules were missing from the code. I rewrote the logic in Kotlin/Spring Boot, with the rules built together with the settlement experts, and verified it against the old code in production: a comparison logged every discrepancy until the new code was right, and the last discrepancies turned out to be bugs in the old code. Response time improved four times over.

Since March 2026 I am the architect and backend developer for SPK’s new pension calculator, both the one members use to plan their retirement and the internal variant for case workers. I know SPK from before: lead architect for Steria’s team in PERFORM during the Norwegian pension reform, 2009–2011.

I use AI tooling daily in development work, and build my own tools when needed. Most recently a pipeline that anonymizes source data before an AI agent debugs and opens a PR, so no sensitive data reaches the agent. I write about AI in practice on finnrobert.no.
